Flat roofs are unforgiving. When they fail, water finds every weak point fast - and the damage it causes inside a building is usually way more expensive than the roof work itself. That's exactly why the installation process matters so much.

Here's what we were working with on this one: a flat roof getting a full TPO membrane install. You can see the insulation board laid out across the deck, mechanically fastened with those metal plates and screws spaced across the field. That's not just filler - proper fastening patterns are what keep the membrane from lifting during high winds, which Kansas City gets plenty of.

Once the substrate is secured, the TPO membrane gets rolled out and heat-welded at the seams. That white material you can see being staged on the right side of the roof is the TPO sheet, ready to go down. TPO is one of the most reliable flat roofing systems available right now - it reflects heat, holds up against UV exposure, and when installed correctly, it lasts.

We do this work the right way, which means no shortcuts on fastener spacing, no sloppy seams, and no guessing on membrane overlap. Kansas City's freeze-thaw cycles and storm seasons put real stress on flat roofs, and a system that's installed correctly handles that stress without issue.

Flat roofing isn't complicated - but it does require precision. Get it right the first time and you won't be dealing with leaks, ponding water, or premature failure down the road.
